Gineve Standard Poodles is me! I'm Ginger. I am a
wife, homeschooling mother, and animal lover. We have had loads of animals: cats, dogs, chickens, quail, hamsters,
a rabbit, a ferret, and hand-reared one abandoned baby squirrel. At this time, we have one old, crippled,
rescued stray cat, KitKat, a new baby kitten, Libby, who was found in our church parking lot on July 3rd, a temporary cat
named Isaiah whom we are keeping for a friend, a ferret named Ferris, and our wonderful Standard Poodle Loves, our blue Standard
Poodle, Delilah, her glossy black daughter, Abrial, and our red Standard Cosette, who is our resident clown! We
also have five American Quarter Horses, some for showing and some for riding.
Gineve Standard Poodles is also Steve. Steve and I have been married
for 20 years. He is a registered nurse, working in various intensive care units in the hospital. Nursing is a
relatively new profession for Steve, as he was working in construction until 1994. Steve loves his new profession
and enjoys going to work, knowing he is making a difference in people's lives.
Steve did not wish to become the owner of a Standard Poodle. He desired
a more "manly" dog! However, he caved in to the pleas of his wife and daughters, admonishing us that he would have nothing
to do with the dog whatsoever. It took one week for Delilah to win Steve's heart! After two years, he informed
me that Delilah was the best dog he has ever had and he has now fallen in love with Standard Poodles. Although the poodles
were suppose to be MINE, you might not realize that if you come and visit. Cosette and Abrial can usually be found snugged
up next to Steve - or even in his LAP!!! Delilah, however, is Mama's girl!
Gineve Standard Poodles also consists of our three children, Joshua, Brooke,
and Morgan. Joshua is more of a cat person, tolerating the dogs and they him. My girls love all animals, especially
poodles. They are a great help with new puppies, making sure they get enough love and kisses and human contact!
Joshua is a Senior in High School now. He is involved in showing
his quarter horse gelding in halter class and riding in timed western events including barrels, pole bending, and arena
race. In August 2004, he triple qualified for the American Quarter Horse Youth World Championship Show and finished
in the top 20 in all three events. We were so proud of him. He has also on the summer swim team for 11 years and
on the high school team for three years. Joshua also enjoys playing the electric guitar. Everyone keeps consoling
me with the words, "At least it's not the DRUMS!"
Brooke has a deep love for animals and desires to work with animals in
some capacity when she grows up. She has been in seventh heaven with her horse, taking riding lessons, and riding in
shows. Her favorite Western event is pole bending. Brooke has set a goal to ride in the American Quarter Horse
Association's World Championship in poles one day and she has been working toward that goal. While doing our school
work, you will find one poodle at her feet, another beneath her left hand, and the new kitten in her desk drawer!!!
Her favorite television channel to watch is Animal Planet - what else?
Morgan enjoys shopping and having her aunts and grandmother fix her nails,
hair, and face! She enjoys being homeschooled and will hug me and thank me for homeschooling her at least once a week.
She is our little social butterfly and enjoys everyone. Morgan is also learning to ride horses. She has taken
over her brother's barrel horse and is doing very well.
More than anyone else, Gineve Standard Poodles is Delilah. Delilah is
not simply our dog, she is a part of our family. She goes on vacation with us. She is always well behaved and
receives attention wherever she goes! It is Delilah that began my love affair with this wonderful breed. I cannot
imagine not sharing my life with this precious girl. Although I love all three of my poodle girls, Delilah is just one
in a million.
We added our second poodle love, Cosette, in August 2002. I waited many years before I found
my special red baby. She is quite a big girl, 28" at the shoulder, and is the clown of our poodle family. She
always has a big goofy "grin" on her face! She loves Delilah and follows her everywhere. She loves everyone who
comes to our home and, although she is a big girl, she will try to climb into their laps! Cosette will not be bred -
she has been spayed and instead of having babies will just stay our special red baby forever.
In November 2002, one of Delilah's puppies was brought back to
us. She arrived back at our house filthy and obviously abused, but has blossomed. She is a beautiful, petite
little girl who loves tennis balls! She always has one in her mouth. She is still standoffish with strangers,
but is getting out of that with frequent outings. She surprised me when I brought her to a horse show by even approaching
people and was not timid. She has the loveliest glossy black ringlet curls I've ever seen!
As much as I love my poodles and want everyone to experience Standard
Poodle Love, there is no breed that is right for everyone. If you are interested in obtaining a Standard Poodle, I strongly
suggest you do lots of research on this, or any other, breed of dog before you make a purchase. Obtaining a dog is like
adopting a child - it is a life-long commitment!

A Few of My Favorite Things...
Favorite Scripture: Psalms
91
He who dwells in the secret place
of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in
Him I will trust."
3Surely He shall deliver you from the
snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence.
4He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall
take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
5You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, Nor of the arrow that
flies by day, 6Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
7A thousand
may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you. 8Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.
9Because you have made the LORD, who is my refuge, Even the Most High,
your dwelling place, 10No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; 11For He shall give
His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways.
12In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against
a stone. 13You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
14"Because
he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on
high, because he has known My name. 15He shall call upon Me, and
I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him. 16With long life I will satisfy
him, And show him My salvation."
